Across El Camino Real, Central Carmel Valley's Two Town Centers Now Split the Week

October 15, 2026

One Paseo and Del Mar Highlands Town Center sit on opposite sides of El Camino Real. For most of their shared history they competed for the same smoothie, the same lunch and the same Saturday stroll. The tenant changes since late spring 2026 and the event calendars posted for October have sorted the two centers into different jobs. Del Mar Highlands added the counter-service food, fitness studios and recurring weeknight events. One Paseo added a first-of-its-kind dining room, a service hub and a pop-up, and it put nearly all of its public programming on Saturdays.

The clearest sign of the shift is a juice bar that changed sides of the street.

The Juice Bar That Crossed El Camino Real

Joe & the Juice opened at Del Mar Highlands Town Center in June, at 3435 Del Mar Heights Road, #9, on the upper level. Its history is what makes it interesting. As the San Diego Union-Tribune put it in its July 13 report:

"There used to be a Joe & the Juice across the street at One Paseo, it was one of the founding tenants when the center opened in 2019."

The Copenhagen-founded chain has more than 500 stores worldwide, and the new spot is its third in San Diego. The menu runs to cold brew, fresh juices, iced matcha and panini-pressed sandwiches such as the Spicy Caesar and the Tunacado. The Union-Tribune describes a roomy cafe behind frosted pink windows, with a bar, a booth and tables.

A grab-and-go juice counter is a weekday, run-an-errand kind of tenant. It now sits in the center anchored by Ralphs and Jimbo's. The rest of Del Mar Highlands' 2026 additions fit the same pattern.

Del Mar Highlands Filled Its Everyday Slots

The Union-Tribune's July roundup called Joe & the Juice "just one of several new tenants" at Del Mar Highlands. Here is where each one stands as of mid-October, going by the center's own directory and recent local coverage:

  • L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, next to Ike's Love & Sandwiches, is open. It held a luau-themed grand opening this summer. The exact date depends on the source: a September review in the Torrey Pines Falconer gives May 23 in its text and June 6 in a photo caption.
  • Lobster Lab, a seafood spot on the Sky Deck, is listed as now open. In June, WhatNow San Diego reported a target of the second week of July. The actual first day hasn't been confirmed.
  • Wanderlust Creamery, by the Pop Jet Fountain, appears as now open in the center's dessert directory.
  • CorePower Yoga announced an official opening on Tuesday, June 9, with a grand-opening weekend June 13–14.
  • Perspire Sauna Studio has also joined the center.
  • SeabĆørn Cocktails, which is taking over the former Boochcraft taproom on Brewer's Deck, is still marked "Coming Soon." As of WhatNow's September 3 report, its hours were still to be announced.

Taken together, the list covers a plate lunch, a seafood counter, an ice cream shop, a juice bar, a yoga studio and a sauna. These are repeat-visit businesses, the kind built for a Tuesday as much as a weekend. The one evening-focused concept on the list is the cocktail bar, and it hasn't opened yet.

One Paseo Added Fewer Tenants, of a Different Kind

One Paseo's 2026 arrivals rely less on frequency and more on novelty.

Goop Kitchen opened at One Paseo on August 31. The Union-Tribune reported it as the brand's first dine-in location. The center's own promotional post went up in early October. The opening itself came more than a month earlier.

Nordstrom Local had opened by mid-July, according to a separate Union-Tribune story. It is a service hub for online-order pickups, returns and alterations, not a conventional store.

KREWE, the eyewear brand, is running a limited-time pop-up that the center listed as now open in an October 1 entry.

That makes three additions: a flagship-style dining room, a service counter and a temporary shop. None of them compete directly with what opened across the street, and the event calendars widen the same split.

The Calendars Divide the Week

Laid out by day of the week, the two centers' October programming barely overlaps. Del Mar Highlands' official calendar is built around recurring weeknight events. One Paseo's dated October events fall almost entirely on Saturdays.

Day Del Mar Highlands Town Center One Paseo
Monday Music Bingo & Trivia at Brewer's Deck —
Tuesday Trivia —
Wednesday Wine & Cheese Night at CeramiCafe —
Thursday Ambrogio15 Annual Truffle Dinner, Oct. 29 —
Friday Midnight Mahjong at Zen Modern Asian Bistro Trunk or Treat, Oct. 30, 3–5 p.m.
Saturday Halloween trick-or-treating, Oct. 31, 4–6 p.m. Free live music, 3–5 p.m.; Hocus Pocus movie night, Oct. 17, 5–8 p.m.
Select dates — Holiday mini photo sessions starting Oct. 18

One Paseo's Saturday series, Shop, Dine & Unwind, is free and runs from 3 to 5 p.m. The rest of October brings Kenna on October 17, TJ Moss on October 24 and David de Alva on October 31. The free outdoor Hocus Pocus screening was moved to October 17 because of weather. That puts it on the same Saturday as the Kenna set, so the center has live music in the afternoon and a movie that evening.

The holiday mini photography sessions run on select dates from October 18 through December 6. They are the one item on One Paseo's calendar that extends well past Halloween.

Halloween Lands on Both Sides, One Day Apart

The day-of-week split holds even for the biggest family event of the month, with the two centers holding trick-or-treat events on consecutive days:

  1. Friday, October 30, 3–5 p.m. One Paseo hosts Trunk or Treat.
  2. Saturday, October 31, 4–6 p.m. Del Mar Highlands Town Center hosts Halloween trick-or-treating. Trick-or-treat maps are available at the Pop Jet Fountain.
  3. Also Saturday, October 31, 3–5 p.m. David de Alva plays One Paseo's Saturday music slot, which ends an hour before Del Mar Highlands' trick-or-treating does.

The Del Mar Highlands event has three character meet-and-greet stations: Toy Land between Panda Express and Ralphs, Superhero Headquarters at the Pop Jet Fountain, and a K-Pop Power Zone on the Sky Deck. The participating tenant list shows how much of the center's 2026 turnover has settled in. L&L Hawaiian Barbecue is on it alongside longtime names like Jimbo's, Geppetto's, Marufuku Ramen, Davanti Enoteca, Zen Modern Asian Bistro, Parfait Paris and Batch & Box. The UPS Store takes part until 5 p.m. The center is offering a chance to win four Cinepolis tickets for those who RSVP on Eventbrite.

After Halloween, Del Mar Highlands keeps its Harvest at the Highlands fall decor up through November 11. The photo wall is near Supercuts, and the Sky Deck Harvest Chair is by Jimbo's.

What Hasn't Been Settled Yet

A few items on both sides of the street are still open. SeabĆørn Cocktails has no announced opening date, and its hours are still to be announced. One Paseo hasn't posted a 2026 date for its holiday tree lighting. The only tree-lighting page we found is for the November 29, 2025 event. The Ambrogio15 Annual Truffle Dinner on Thursday, October 29, is the one dinner event on either October calendar, and it sits on the Del Mar Highlands side.
